May 25th Update:
Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy Changes
- APRNs, NPs, etc. can no longer provide gender-affirming hormone therapy
- PHYSICIANS (MD or DO) can still prescribe to minors and adults who already have a prescription on record with them
- If you are starting with a new hormone provider, the newly required Florida informed consent form must be signed and it must be signed in-person
- Virtual-only services can no longer be provided in Florida due to this rule (i.e. Plume, Folx, etc.)
Options for Hormone Providers
- QueerMed.com (physically located in Decatur, GA) has committed to creating “pop-up” in-person locations to continue serving the Florida community
- Planned Parenthood is currently reorganizing so they can also meet new Florida requirements and expects to be in compliance when the form is available
- The Mayo Clinic Transgender and Intersex Specialty Care Clinic (TISCC) is available to anyone who can attend their first appointment in person in Jacksonville and all follow-up appointments can be virtual
- Other providers are available in your area and can be found in Equality Florida’s Resource Guide (updated 2023)
- Remember that the provider must be an MD or DO now
The Umbrella Guide: http://umbrellaguide.org “The Umbrella Guide is a community-driven effort for finding trans-friendly resources. Based out of Orlando, our current focus is creating a list of providers willing to provide HRT to patients over 18 within Central Florida, and we hope to grow from there!”
